Nameri is a beautiful spot on the northern shore of the Kameng River, which lies at the foothills of the eastern Himalayas in the state of Assam. Together with the Pakke Wildlife Reserve in the bordering state of Arunachal Pradesh, Nameri forms a 1000 m2 protected area for tigers, elephants and many other species.

Terrain

The hilly landscape of Nameri consists mainly of tropical deciduous forests, which are broken in places by reeds and bamboo, as well as narrow strips of open grass savannah along the rivers.

Peculiarities

Nameri is known for its large elephant population and is a paradise for birdwatchers with over 300 species. It is possible to take a walking safari or a boat trip. Depending on weather conditions, river rafting is also available on the Jia Bhoroli River, which crosses the park.
